Nikah at the masjid
The masjid conducts nikahs, here or at your own venue. Book online and we’ll confirm the date, the imam and the fee.
What you’ll need
Have these ready when you book. Names should be spelt as they will appear on the certificate.
- Two adult Muslim witnesses
- Both come to the nikah with photo ID: a driving licence, passport or BRP.
- The bride’s wali
- Her father or guardian, or someone he has authorised. If the bride has no Muslim guardian, tell us when you book.
- The mahr
- Agreed between the couple before the day, whether paid at the nikah, deferred, or part of each.
- Documents
- Photo ID for the groom and bride, proof of address for one of them, and a decree absolute, death certificate or shahada certificate if one applies.
Your choices
- Where
- At the masjid or at your own venue.
- The khutbah
- English, Arabic, Urdu, Bengali or a mix.
- On the day
- We can arrange live streaming or a photographer.
- Who leads it
- Ask for a particular imam when you book.
Islamic marriage only
The nikah is an Islamic marriage, not a civil one. For your marriage to count in UK law, book a civil ceremony with your local register office as well. Dates depend on the imam and the venue, and we confirm the fee when you book.
